January 2019 PTA Meeting
1/8/2019 2:04 pm
Bullying is a topic of which many of us and our children are aware, sometimes personally. Would you like to learn strategies to help prevent bullying? We'll hear from Alicia Clarke from the FCPS Student Safety & Wellness Office. She will teach us strategies to help prevent bullying at school, in the "real world," and the cyber world. We'll learn how to identify bullying and understand bullying compared to harassment, what signs to look for, and ways to both prevent bullying and support our children when dealing with it.
Spanish and Arabic interpretation will be available. Child care, with dinner included, will be provided. Please click here to let us know the number of children you are bringing.
December 2018 PTA Meeting
11/28/2018 4:02 pm
Please join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, December 11th, where it’s going to be all about PLAY!
From 6:30 to 7:00, there will be a "Share Fair" where a number of student groups (at least one per grade level) will be set-up to talk about their Playground Project Based Learning (PBL) proposals. Think of this like a science fair, but this one will be focused on play! You'll have the opportunity to walk around and see the different playground ideas the children have developed.
The PTA meeting will officially start at 7:00 and three student groups will present their Playground PBL proposals to the PTA. After we focus on the PBL, we'll have a couple of very quick business items and then it will be time for the grown-ups to play!
Math Resource Teacher Sue Garthwaite and Advanced Academics Resource Teacher Dan Solsberry will teach us math and strategy games that we can play at home with our kids (winter break is coming!). We’ll get the opportunity to play the games they teach us and everyone will take home a strategy game! All parents that attend will also be entered in a raffle to win an additional ThinkFun strategy game! Spanish and Arabic interpretation will be available. Child care, with dinner included, will be provided. Please click here to let us know the number of children you are bringing.Read More
